Journal Prompts

Every few days, we'll post another "prompt" (a tip to keep you writing and give you new ideas about how to keep a personal journal).  The newest prompts are at the bottom of the page.

Where do you feel most comfortable, most at home (this may not be an actual home)?  What gives you that comfortable feeling?

Write down every person that you've be around in the last month.  Who brings out the best in you?  Write down how this person brings out the best in you.

You can go to any kind of school in the world, anywhere in the world.  Where would you go and what would you learn?

Your life has been turned into a novel and you are the main character.  What has been the novel's theme during this week.  Write about what was really important to you during the week.

Write down everything about one of your dreams.  Then, write about how would you change the dream?  Be as detailed as you can be.

Think back to the last two times that you have been angry.  Write about each time.

Sometimes, people want to "change the ending" of a movie, a TV show, or a novel.  What you can "change" in your life.

You've changed in the last year.  Everyone does.  How have you changed?

How do you feel about how you've changed in the last year?

Find a day when the sun is shining and get comfortable where the sunlight warms your face. Write about how this feels, what you hear, and what you seen, including what's in the sky.

For each of your teachers for the new school year, write down what you've heard about her/him. You could also write down what you felt about last year's teachers? Be sure to include your feelings about them.
