July 2026 Art Exhibit

Between Pages / Between Places
Paintings by Hu Shasha

Blue Mountain, 2023. Oil, acrylic on canvas, 40 by 30 inches. .jpg
Reception Saturday, July 18 from 2:30 PM to 4:30 PM.

This exhibition brings together recent paintings inspired by everyday life, memory, and the changing relationship between people and the places they inhabit.

Living between Manhattan and the Hudson Valley, I am constantly moving between the energy of the city and the quiet rhythms of nature. These contrasting environments shape the way I see color, light, and space, becoming an important source of inspiration for my paintings.

My work combines the vivid colors of digital screens with the traditional language of oil painting. I begin each piece by sketching on an iPad, experimenting with composition and color before painting on canvas. This process allows digital and physical images to exist together, reflecting how we experience today’s world through both technology and direct observation.

For this exhibition, the library becomes a place for reflection—like an open book where each painting tells part of a larger story. Fragments of daily life, landscapes, interiors, and personal memories come together, inviting viewers to slow down, look closely, and discover their own connections within the work.
